NW
Language Academy offers many fun and innovative children's programs,
ranging from immersion summer camps to curriculum-based in-class programs.
We use an activities-based approach to teaching language that
includes songs, music, games, visual and dramatic arts and sports – all
of which emphasize oral and listening communication and development
of vocabulary and correct pronunciation. Reading and writing
exercises are also included in the instruction where appropriate. The
students learn about cultural aspects of the language and often have
the opportunity to interact with visitors from other countries and
expand their global awareness.
“This was an amazing week of potential and purpose and
such creativity! I think it’s a wonderful opportunity
for us and our kids, something very special!”

PROGRAMS AVAILABLE
“Wonderful. Music, movement, everything. Magical unfolding
of material. Group size was great. Timing was good. You
seem to have an excellent grasp of flow.”
Young Adult —Melinda
Middle-school and high-school students enrolled in this program can receive a high school foreign language credit. These are usually year-long programs that meet a minimum of twice a week for 1.5 hrs. Our teen students can also participate as counselors and junior-counselors in the summer camps program.
“We loved this camp! Your integrity
in speaking [in the language only] was very much appreciated. I
paid close attention to the ways you ensured repetition
of the vocabulary we were learning - songs,(various), finger
plays, games, questions, books. Terrific! What a
rich variety!”
In-School Language Programs — Sandy
NWLA will design and staff curriculum-based in-school world language programs, as well as before -and after-school language programs, for children in kindergarten through 8th grade. Programs begin in the Fall or Winter quarters and can feature weekly or twice-a-week meetings. Interested parents and schools are invited to contact the program director at NWLA for further information and rates. We need at least two to three months' notice to set up a program. Please

for upcoming children’s programs and events. |
