ADULT PROGRAMS
“Language is the road map of a culture. It tells you where its people come from and where they are going.”
—Rita Mae Brown

In all adult classes, the emphasis is on conversation, vocabulary building and pronunciation, with enough grammar to provide a firm foundation. The goal is maximum language acquisition for meaningful, real-life communication in an enjoyable, relaxed and supportive learning environment. Much more fun than the class you had in high school!

Format
  1. Quarterly sessions – these are 10 or 12 week sessions and classes meet once a week for 1.5 hrs each. Beginning to Advanced levels available.
  2. Accelerated sessions – these are 5-week sessions and classes meet twice a week for 1.5 hrs each. Beginning to Intermediate levels.
  3. Language Cafés – these are  9 hour weekend intensives, that usually meet Friday evenings 6:00PM – 9:00PM and Saturdays 9:30AM – 3:30PM.
  4. Custom programs for corporate groups, families or individuals – format varies.
  5. Private Instruction.
Class Size
Our groups are small (average 8 students) allowing for individualized attention and ample opportunity for each participant to practice in an enjoyable, relaxed and supportive learning environment.

CHILDREN AND TEEN PROGRAMS
Children's classes are an immersion in the living atmosphere of language. We use an activities-based approach to teaching the language that includes songs, music, dance, games, visual and dramatic arts and sports – all of which emphasize comprehension, oral communication and the development of vocabulary and correct pronunciation.  Reading and writing exercises are also included in the instruction where appropriate.  The students learn about cultural aspects of the language and often have the opportunity to interact with visitors from other countries and expand their global awareness.

Format
  1. Summer Language Immersion Camps – week-long day camps offered in two levels:
    For Parents & Preschoolers (2 - 6 yrs)
    For Children 7 - 14 yrs*
*Older students can apply for counselor-in-training positions in our Summer Language Camps.
  2. Family programs are intended for multigenerational attendance; preschool-age children with an adult family member, and other siblings, can attend together. These are available as ongoing programs, organized in quarterly sessions that meet once per week for 1.5 hours, as well as weekend mini-camps and summer immersion camps.
  3. Language Clubs for children 6 – 12, usually staged after school or on Saturday mornings.
  4. Young Adult – Middle-school and high-school students enrolled in this program can receive a high school foreign language credit. These are usually year-long programs that meet a minimum of twice a week for 1.5 hrs.

Instructors
Our instructors are native speakers who bring both linguistic and cultural expertise to the classroom. Instruction is always tailored to meet the needs of the individuals in the group. Classes include cultural references to the country of origin as well as practical usage for both travel and business.
